South Plains College is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect(s) in a recent rash of property damage incidents on the main campus.
The suspect is responsible for using a BB or pellet gun to shoot the windows out of various buildings on campus. In the past few weeks, the culprit has damaged windows at the Science Building and Southwest Hall.
“As recently as Thursday (Nov. 17), we’ve received reports of someone shooting out windows at the Communications, Law Enforcement and Mathematics buildings,” said South Plains College Police Chief Nickolis Castillo.
Castillo said he thinks the suspect may be affiliated with the college. The damage total is roughly $5,000, he said. “In the past few years, there have been reports of someone shooting out windows in the community,” he said. “In this case, all of the incidents have occurred on campus and not in the surrounding neighborhoods.”
If anyone has information that could help authorities apprehend the suspect, please call the South Plains College Police at (806) 716-2396.
