Although the Christmas season may be over, we’re still in the season of giving, something the South Plains Food Bank is all too familiar with.
In order to help them in their goal in feeding thousands across the South Plains, the United Family was able to raise nearly $47,000 for the food bank.
“I think what i love most about working at the South Plains Food Bank are the people that I get to work with. The food bank is really a cross roads of people who are hungry, but also people who care about the hungry,” said David Weaver, CEO of the South Plains Food Bank, who has been working with the food bank for 19 years.
Weaver says he and those he works with are appreciative for the relationship between the food bank and United Family stores.
“It really is neighbors feeding neighbors,” said Weaver. “They were giving food to us. People could go in and and they could buy the equivalent of a sack of groceries for eight dollars and we’re getting that product. So we’re getting both a financial donation as well as product donation from United.”
