WHO:
South Plains Food Bank Summer Feeding Site Program
WHAT:
Kick-off for Summer Feeding Site Program at one of thirty-four sites
WHEN:
Saturday, June 4 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
WHERE:
Carlisle Park at 26th and Avenue W
WHY:
One in four children across the South Plains is considered food-insecure. During the summer, need at the food bank typically increases due to the added strain on families to feed children who would otherwise benefit from the free and reduced lunch program at school. Thirty-four feeding sites across the South Plains are opening their doors in an effort to alleviate childhood hunger this summer. The Summer Feeding Service Program, an extension of USDA, will receive meals cooked and prepared by the Kitchen of Hope staff at the South Plains Food Bank according to their designated serving time and day. Meals will be distributed to all children that visit the site under the age of 18, no questions asked. A list of sites and their serving times is available at: spfb.org/summer#sites
