Dr. Curt Cockings tells us more about how to keep your children’s eyes safe when playing sports. He suggests buying safety glasses made of polycarbonate. These will keep their eyes safer than playing without glasses. Contact lenses do not provide any protection. Different sports also pose different issues. The smaller the ball, the easier it is to injure the eye because it fits into the eye socket better. If your child suffers a major injury, it is important to take them to the emergency room and then to an ophthalmologist.
