Spur Teacher Resigns, Allegation of Misconduct with Student

On Tuesday, the Spur ISD issued a statement concerning allegations that a teacher engaged in misconduct with a student.

The school system did not reveal the exact nature of the allegation, but Spur ISD did say the matter was taken to both law enforcement and state regulators. The name of the teacher was not released.

The following is a statement from Craig Hamilton, the Spur ISD Acting Superintendent.

Recently, the Spur ISD Administration received information that a Spur ISD teacher may have engaged in educator misconduct with a District student. Pursuant to the District’s customary personnel practices, the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave, an internal investigation was initiated, and reports of the alleged educator misconduct were made to appropriate state and local child-protective and law enforcement agencies. A report of the alleged educator misconduct was also made to the state educator licensing entity at the Texas Education Agency. Spur ISD will cooperate with these state and local agencies to the fullest extent permitted by law, and will coordinate its own investigation with them. The District has received the employee’s resignation of employment.

State and federal law prohibit the District from disclosing personally identifiable student information, as well as confidential personnel information. Moreover, since the District’s and law enforcement’s investigations are on-going, the District cannot provide further information on this matter. Once the District’s investigation is complete, the District’s administration will examine the findings and determine what action(s), if any, are appropriate. The District takes every allegation of educator misconduct seriously and will take all measures necessary to ensure that its students are educated in a safe and nurturing environment.

Thank you,
Craig Hamilton Spur ISD Acting Superintendent
