An Abilene man has been sentenced to serve one month in a detention center and 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to a child pornography charge involving victims under the age of 7.
Ryder Altman, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of Possession of Child Pornography with the Intent to Promote and received his sentence Friday. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life and must complete 240 hours of community service as a condition of his probation.
Court documents state law enforcement began looking into Altman after an IP address registered to his name surfaced during an Abilene police-led child pornography investigation on file-sharing network BitTorrent.
During the investigation, an Abilene Police Department detective was able to use software to download two videos and several still images from the IP address linked to Altman.
The videos “depicted a small, prepubescent female” engaged in sexual acts with an adult male, according to the documents.
While a subsequent search warrant was executed at Altman’s residence, the documents state he initially denied have any affiliation with the child pornography, but when his mother “told him to tell the truth,” he admitted to downloading videos of underage children.
Detectives were also able to recover several pornographic images and videos from Altman’s phone, and a “large portion of the images are of infants, toddlers, and children that appear to be under the age of seven,” according to the documents.
