An Abilene man tried escape from a Taylor County Sheriff’s patrol car Wednesday afternoon as he was transferred from Wichita Falls.
Martin Estrada, 31, kicked out the back window of a moving police car and climbed onto the roof while traveling south on Highway 82, according to Wichita County Deputy Melvin Joyner.
Eyewitness video sent to KTAB/KRBC shows Estrada on top of the patrol car as it travels down the highway. The patrol car comes to a stop along the road after Wichita County authorities responded to the incident and caught up to the vehicle.
Deputies were seen with guns drawn as they detained Estrada immediately after coming to a stop.
From there, Estrada was transferred to Abilene by a Wichita County deputy, according to Joyner.
Estrada’s charges include evading arrest, aggravated robbery, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of meth with intent to deliver, according to Taylor County Lieutenant John Cummins.
He would have to post bonds of $680,000 to be released from the Taylor County Jail.
