The body of a woman found in an Upshur County field has been identified.

According to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, investigators discovered the body of Rachel Rhoads, 24, of Longview, on April 1, off Farm-to-Market Road 726, near Highway 154.

Rhoads was reported missing on March 31, to the Longview Police Department. The LPD is assisting the UCSO in the investigation.

On Monday, the UCSO told KETK circumstances surrounding Rhoads’ death were “suspicious.”

They are investigating her death as a homicide.

Rhoads is a 2010 graduate of Pine Tree High School.
