An East Texas police department is warning of bees in the area after an 18-wheeler, carrying a load of honey bees, overturned on Monday.

On Monday, around 10:45 a.m., the Paris Police Department responded to the US Highway 271 exchange at Southeast Loop 286 after a semi hauling around 30,000,000 bees turned over.

Local beekeepers also responded to the scene.

Several first responders were stung, but are okay.

As of Tuesday morning, the roads are open and debris have been removed. However, there are still bees in the area and will remain in the area for some time.

Beekeepers have set up a hive and will be moving a queen in to try and attract more back to the hive for removal.

The PPD is asking residents if they find a swarm on their property, to not kill them, as they are important to the ecosystem.
