We’ve all heard of flash mobs, but what about a flash Bob, Bob Ross that is.
About 50 students at Madison Middle School dressed up like the famous painter for a special lesson, and one of those students, eighth grader Deja Johnson, who says she’s always had a passion for art.
“It’s just a great feeling of calmness and it’s peaceful,” said Johnson.
What better way to share in that calming activity than with Bob Ross himself and about 50 other students that look just like him.
All part of a special activity orchestrated by their art teacher Brady Sloane.
“I was really wanting to reward my students in a meaningful way and provide an enriching art related experience but just also honor the hard work they’ve been doing,” said Sloane.
Sloane combining both of her Pre-AP art classes Thursday for a chance to learn from a legend, watching as the students practiced their art skills straight from one of the painters videos.
“They’re learning sponge brush techniques, landscape painting, alla prima, working at easel, but they’re really getting to paint like so many real artists do,” said Sloane.
After it was all said and done, students say the product and the experience was one for the books, no mistakes here, just happy little accidents.
