Human remains found in Brewster County Friday have been identified as missing Sul Ross State University student Zuzu Verk, authorities announced Monday.
A U.S. Border Patrol agent discovered the remains Friday morning in the Sunny Glenn area northwest of Alpine.
Her remains were found in what was described by authorities as a “three foot shallow grave.”
Verk went missing on October 12, 2016, according to police documents.
The lone suspect in her disappearance has been her former boyfriend Robert Fabian.
Fabian was arrested by authorities over the weekend. He is charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence by concealing a human corpse, according to previous reports.
Alpine Police also report Chris Estrada has been arrested in this case.
Authorities said there are more persons of interest in the case.
Fabian appeared in court on Monday and his bond was set at $500,000 with conditions.
