Temple police are investigating the accidental shooting of a young child Thursday afternoon.
Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the call in the 300 block of South 25th at 2:31 p.m.
The victim was a seven month old child who was reported conscious and breathing when transported to McLane Children’s Hospital.
Rescue personnel said early word was that the shooting was accidental, but Temple police are investigating the circumstances.
Temple Police Department spokesperson Shawana Neely said the shot had been fired by a four year old child.
