Mt. Pleasant Police officials have seized almost 30 dogs after receiving reports of a terrible smell coming from a home.

According to Mt. Pleasant Police Department, animal control and police officers are executing a search warrant in the 1400 block of S. Lide. The warrant was issued after officials received reports of “noxious” smells coming from the area.

Authorities seized 28 dogs from inside the house. Police said conditions were so deplorable, protective suits and respirators had to be warn to keep officers safe.

One arrest has been made. The name of the person involved has not been released.

Additional city resources have been called in to help with the scene.
