A dog who was seen being hit multiple times in a video on social media is on the road to recovery.
Lady, the six-month-old pit bull puppy that was seen being attacked by a man on a Facebook video, has been ordered seized pending the outcome of a court hearing later this month.
After reviewing the case, Texarkana Texas Municipal Court Judge Sherry Jackson ordered the dog seized Tuesday and set a court hearing at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at the Bi-State Criminal Justice Center.
After hearing testimony, Judge Jackson will decide whether or not it is in the best interest of the dog to be permanently removed from the owner’s care.
Lady has been receiving treatment for a broken leg at a local veterinarian clinic since Sunday. She is expected to make a full recovery.
Meanwhile, the search continues for 69-year-old LeGus Holloway, of Texarkana Texas. A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Cruelty of Non-Livestock Animals.
Texarkana CrimeStoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of Holloway. Anonymous tips can be reported by calling (903) 793-7867.
The video, which began circulating Sunday afternoon on social media, shows Holloway pulling Lady out of a car and striking her several times.
The man can be seen in this video holding a dog by the collar and repeatedly whipping it with what appears to be a belt or leash.
The man also throws the dog over his shoulder before dropping it on the street.
