The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that a pilot walked away unharmed after making an emergency landing near Dyess Air Force Base Monday morning.
The plane took off from the Abilene Regional Airport around 8:30 a.m.
A short time later, the pilot reported engine problems.
DPS said the pilot tried to make it to Dyess AFB but was unable.
The plane came down on County Road 311, about a quarter mile off of Farm-to-Market Road 707.
The pilot was the only person onboard and suffered no injury, authorities said.
The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the crash.
