The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over 106 pounds of marijuana [Monday] morning after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Mitchell County.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., a Trooper stopped a white Chevrolet passenger car, traveling east on IH-20 in Mitchell County, for a traffic violation. A search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search the Trooper discovered several individually wrapped packages of marijuana inside a compartment located in the rear passenger area, worth approximately $42,000.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from El Paso to Dallas.
The driver, Alvaro Valdez, 46, of El Paso, TX, was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Valdez was transported and booked into the Mitchell County jail.
