An East Texas teenager has been charged with murder.
According to Hopkins County judicial records, Gavin Gilbert, 17, of Sulphur Springs, has been charged with one count of murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Although officials say it’s very early in the investigation, the HCSO received a call around 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, on reports of a shooting. Officials say Gilbert reportedly met Tyrese Pryor, 18, of Sulphur Springs, and four other people on a county road in Hopkins County. Officials say Pryor was in a truck with four other people. After meeting, an altercation allegedly occurred.
Officials say four shots were fired into the truck by Gilbert, two of which struck Pryor.
Pryor was pronounced dead around 7:45 p.m., by Justice of the Peace B.J. Teer. His body was sent to Dallas for autopsy.

Pryor played outside linebacker and wide receiver for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats. He is also the cousin of current Texas A&M safety, Larry Pryor, Jr.
Sulphur Springs ISD Assistant Superintendent Rusty Harden released a statement on the passing of Tyrese Pryor.
Sulphur Springs ISD was made aware of an incident that occurred in our community last night. We were very saddened to hear that one of our students had passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and others involved and affected by the incident. Extra counselors and support are on our campuses caring for the needs of our students and staff.
Gilbert was arrested in connection with the shooting around 2:00 a.m., Monday morning. He is currently being held in the Hopkins County Jail on $4,000,000 bond.
