President Trump will be in El Paso on Monday to host a Make America Great Again rally. Here’s everything you need to know about the event:

Event Details

The MAGA rally will be held at 7 p.m. at the El Paso County Coliseum. Doors will open to the public at 4 p.m. Anyone unable to attend can stream the event here at KTSM.com.

Ticket Information

The free tickets for the rally can be reserved HERE. Tickets are limited to two people per registrant, according to the campaign website. 

Prohibited Items

The El Paso Police Department released the following list of items that will not be permitted inside the venue: 

  • Aerosols
  • Ammunition
  • Animals (other than service/guide animals)
  • Backpacks and bags exceeding size restrictions
  • Balloons
  • Bicycles
  • Coolers
  • Drones and other unmanned aircraft systems
  • Explosives
  • Firearms
  • Glass, thermal, or metal containers
  • Laser pointers
  • Mace or pepper spray
  • Packages
  • Selfie sticks
  • Signs exceeding size restrictions (20″x3″x1/4″)
  • Structures
  • Support for signs and placards
  • Toy guns
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Any other items determined to be a potential safety hazard

School Closures

13 El Paso ISD schools will release students early on Monday in anticipation of large crowds and heavy traffic associated with Trump’s arrival.

The schools impacted are:

  • Aoy Elementary School
  • Beall Elementary School
  • Burleson Elementary School
  • Clardy Elementary School
  • Cooley Elementary School
  • Douglass Elementary School
  • Hart Elementary School
  • Zavala Elementary School
  • Guillen Middle School
  • Henderson Middle School
  • Bowie High School
  • Jefferson High School
  • Silva Magnet High School

Traffic Implications

Heavy traffic backup is expected before, during, and after Trump’s visit.

The following roadways will close:

  • Piedras and Great Bear (south of Paisano)
  • San Marcial and Shelter 

Additional road closures are also anticipated in areas around Downtown and South El Paso. 

CBP is also urging travelers to avoid the Bridge of the Americas on Monday afternoon and evening. El Diario reports that the bridge will close from 8 p.m. to midnight due to the visit.

Impact on City Services, Facilites 

The presidential visit will affect the following City facilities and services:

  • The Parks and Recreation Department: The Acosta Sports Center and Hilos de Plata Senior Center will close at 1 p.m. on Monday.
  • El Paso Zoo: Closed for the day.
  • El Paso Municipal Courts: Courts 1, 2, 4, and 5 cases set after 11 a.m. are cancelled.

Weather

A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday with winds of up to 35 mph expected. A high of 58° is in the forecast.

Protests

Several local organizations will gather for the “March for Truth” on Monday. The event is set to kick off at 5 p.m. along San Marcial Street near Bowie High School. The march will begin at 6 p.m. and travel to the to Chalio Acosta Sports Center near the El Paso Coliseum. Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and former Congressman Beto O’Rourke are expected to attend.

TV Programming Changes

KTSM’s broadcast of the Trump rally from 7 to 8 p.m. will alter regular programming. “America’s Got Talent”, which usually airs at 7 p.m., will instead be shown at 8 p.m. “Manifest”, which typically comes on at 9 p.m., will also be pushed back to 1 a.m.
