CLOVIS, N.M. – First responders battled a large structure fire on Saturday at the former Golden West Flour Mill in Clovis.
The fire broke out Saturday afternoon on East 1st Street in the vicinity of Gidding and Pile Streets.
EasternNewMexicoNews.com said there have been no reports of deaths or injuries, according to Clovis Fire Department officials.
Firefighters were expected remain on scene into the evening hours.
The fire spread smoke across the downtown area and knocked out power in parts of the city.
Power had been nearly restored to most affected customers Saturday evening, a spokesman for Xcel Energy told EasternNewMexicoNews.com.
The Clovis and Curry County Office of Emergency Management is asking the public to avoid the area.
Streets were closed in the vicinity of the fire and traffic was being diverted.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
