Funeral arrangements have been released for DPS Trooper Damon Allen, courtesy of Bowers Funeral Home in Teague, Texas.

Services will be held on Friday, December 1 at the Mexia High School Football Stadium. Pastor Bryan Hallmark will be officiating.

Interment will be following the services at the Salem Cemetery, near Freestone.

Visitation will be held this Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home.

Allen passed away in the line of duty on Thursday, November 23, near Fairfield.

Dabrett Black was arrested after a manhunt and standoff near I-45. Shots were fired in the area of Liendo Parkway and Wyatt Chapel.

The shooting occurred around 4:00 PM south of Fairfield.

Black was previously booked into Smith County Jail on October 5, 2017 for evading arrest and aggravated assault against a public servant. He is also said to have ties to Lindale. 

He leaves behind his wife and 3 children.  Allen joined the department in 2002. 

Officials say they plan to file a capital murder charge against Black.
