Hobbs Police Arrested Man Thursday Wanted on Numerous Outstanding Warrants

On Thursday, August 31, 2017 at approximately 4:36 am, officers investigated a suspicious activity call at the Hobbs Apartments located in the 2000 block of E. Clinton.

Reports indicated that a male subject had entered an apartment by climbing through the window. Officers contacted the renter of the apartment. The renter told officers that no one was supposed to be in the apartment at that time.

Officers knocked and announced themselves several times and there was no response from anyone inside. After obtaining consent from the owner, officers attempted to make entry but the door was barricaded by a couch. Once inside, a male subject answered and was located in the residence.

The male suspect identified himself as Christopher Pena. On September 1, detectives learned that the subject that was arrested under the name Christopher Pena was in fact his brother, Craig Pena. He was identified by his fingerprints. This led detectives to charge him with thirteen counts of Forgery (Fourth Degree Felony), Concealing Identity (Petty Misdemeanor) and Resisting, Evading or Obstructing an Officer (Misdemeanor).

Pena was also served existing warrants, which included the following charges: Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Failure to Appear (City Court) and 5 counts of Failure to Appear/Contempt of Court (Magistrate Court). Pena is currently in custody in the Hobbs City Jail awaiting arraignment.
