On June 4, 2017 at approximately 5:05 PM, Hobbs Police Officers were in the area of 506 W. Berry, when they observed Jonathan Zaragoza, 31, of Hobbs, run inside the residence. Zaragoza was known to have several outstanding warrants one of which was for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Officers attempted to make contact with occupants of the residence; however, received no response from inside.
The HPD SWAT Team was activated and negotiators spoke with Zaragoza who eventually surrendered without further incident. Officers were on scene for approximately an hour and 15 minutes, at which time access to several surrounding residences was restricted. Zaragoza was booked into the Hobbs Municipal Detention facility on Felon in Possession of a Firearm ($2000 bond); Failure to Appear (Magistrate Court, No Bond); and Resisting, Evading or Obstructing an Officer ($529 bond).
