Midland County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered 14 dead dogs last week in a home near east County Road 144.
“Just bone and hair. They were past decomposition,” said Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter. “It was so bad there was not even any flies in the house.”
MCSO said bankers were coming to the house to issue a foreclosure when they noticed the door was unlocked.
That’s when the bankers made the discovery.
“There was dog feces, dog hair, animals in cages that had been deceased for a long time,” said Painter.
MCSO has yet to publicly confirm the identity of the homeowner.
“We’re trying to locate the owner and find out why. What reason is there to leave the animals like that?” said Painter.
Painter says his officers have no idea what happened to the owner of the house.
“There’s no evidence that we could locate that would indicate any kind of foul play on the inside of the residence,” said Painter.
Yourbasin.com found a possible name of the homeowner in online property records
She was the former vice president of an animal rescue group. However, yourbasin.com said “we cannot confirm” the name in online records is the person law enforcement would like to question.
