The statewide gas price average in Texas for a gallon regular unleaded fuel dropped to $1.94 on Saturday, according to AAA Texas.
Saturday’s price was roughly 3 cents lower than last week and 42 cents lower than this time last year.
“While rising oil prices have caused mild increases at the pump recently, colder than normal weather in many parts of the U.S. is leading to a drop in demand for retail gasoline and forcing pump prices to drop slightly this week,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas/AAA New Mexico spokesperson in a news release.
Drivers in Lubbock and Corpus Christi were paying the lowest average prices on Saturday, while the most expensive prices continue to be found in the Midland-Odessa area.
AAA Texas reported that average price for regular unleaded in Lubbock was $1.88 on Saturday.
GasBuddy.com was reporting a slightly lower average price on Saturday of $1.85 in Lubbock.
The national average price for regular unleaded was reported at $2.26 per gallon on Saturday, one cent less than last week and 33 cents lower than one year ago.
