Hobbs Police were contacted in January 2017 by two separate alleged victims of fraud, both claiming Hector
Vega was responsible. Detectives have been investigating the claims in which Vega presented fraudulent investment opportunities to the victims.

The investment scams were highly sophisticated and well thought out, as Hector presented both victims with false documents and promises of high returns on their investments. The investments opportunities centered around the worldwide driver service company UBER and NDN Vega LLC, a fabricated music promotion company. In both cases, the victims repeatedly asked for information and updates on the progress of their investments and inquired about when they would receive a financial return.

Vega wrote checks to both victims with insufficient funds and then ceased communication. One victim had a
reported loss of $15,000.00 while the other reported their loss to be $5,000.00.  The investigations into these claims indicated that Hector Vega had no lawful permission to sell securities in the State of New Mexico.

As a result, warrants were issued for Vega on charges of Fraud and Securities Fraud and he was arrested on May 25. Bond was set at $200,000.
