Midland Police Officer Indicted Following Fatal Crash on Christmas Eve

A Midland Police officer has been indicted following a crash that left one man dead back on Christmas Eve.

Officials say Officer Christian Abrahim was indicted on charges of criminally negligent homicide on January 17.

The indictment claims that the death of Roy Neely was caused by Abrahim operating a motor vehicle in a manner unsafe for the conditions of the roadway and by operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed, according to a release from the Midland County District Attorney’s office.

Furthermore, the indictment says Abrahim failed to activate his emergency equipment in his police vehicle.

The crash occurred on the morning of Christmas Eve while officer Abrahim was headed west on Wadley about a disturbance call.

Officials say Officer Abrahim collided with a Toyota Prius that was turning onto Ward Street.

Neely, who was driving the Prius, was later transported to Midland Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Officer Abrahim is currently on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
