The Texas Department of Public Safety released a statement Friday afternoon concerning a murder in Runnels County which happened Thursday.
DPS said Thomas Gene Peiser, 41, of Miles was arrested for the murder of Antonio Hernandez Romo, 58, of Miles.
Runnels County is northeast of San Angelo and southwest of Abilene.
The following is the complete text of the statement from DPS:
Yesterday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. authorities were called to a possible gun shot in the 800 Block of Elm Street in Miles. The investigation led to the search and discovery of the deceased victim, Antonio Hernandez Romo, 58, of Miles. His body was located a short distance North of Miles off of FM 2333.
Cause of death is under investigation. The suspect, Thomas Gene Peiser, 41, of Miles, was arrested for the murder of Romo at his residence. Motive and details of the case are under investigation. Agencies involved in the investigation are Miles PD, Runnels County SO, and the Texas Rangers.
