The New Braunfels Police Department is looking for an additional victim in an invasive visual recording case involving a man they say took photographs of children and women when they went to the bathroom.

Police arrested Hermes Estuardo Mendez, 36, on Nov. 28 in connection with an Aug. 12 case. In the August case, an 11-year-old girl told her parents someone had taken a picture of her under the bathroom stall of the Walmart. When officers arrived, they found Mendez still inside the women’s restroom. He was initially taken into custody on two outstanding New Braunfels Municipal Court warrants.

When authorities looked through Mendez’s cellphone, they found he had a photograph of a 5-year-old girl, according to a press release. NBPD investigators believe there may be an additional unidentified female victim who was in the women’s restroom in the back of the Walmart in New Braunfels between the hours of 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 12.

Mendez is currently in the Comal County Jail.
