The following is a news release from New Mexico State Police:
On January 26, 2018 around 5:07 a.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash at the intersection of NM Hwy 128 and Delaware Basin Road, approximately 20 miles west of Jal, NM.
The initial investigation indicated a 2010 Lincoln sedan was traveling south on Delaware Basin when it failed to stop at the intersection of NM Hwy 128, striking a Semi-Truck on the side.
The driver of the Lincoln sedan, Mr. Hugo Ledesma (37) of El Paso, TX., sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to University Medical Center in Odessa, TX. The passenger of the Lincoln, Mr. Sergio Torres (36) also of El Paso, TX., sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
The driver of the Semi-Truck was not injured in the crash.
This crash remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
