The following is a news release from New Mexico State Police:
On October 13, 2018 just after 7:00 a.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on U.S. 62/180 near mile post 65 west of Hobbs.
The initial investigation indicated a 2008 Chevy Impala was traveling east on U.S. 62/180 at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the Chevy left the roadway and began to roll. The occupants of the Chevy, Andrew Beatty (29) of Carlsbad and Alan Knight (31) of Rexburg, ID were both ejected, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly used. No one else was involved in the crash. No additional information is available.
