The following is a news release from New Mexico State Police:

On April 11, 2019 at around 10:08 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash at the intersection of U.S. 62/180 and State Road 176, west of Hobbs.

The initial investigation indicated a 2018 Ford pick-up driven by Terrance Avery Yellets (25) of Corpus Christi, TX was traveling west on State Road 176 approaching the intersection of U.S. 62/180. For unknown reasons the Ford did not stop at the intersection and was struck by a 2018 Ford pick-up that was traveling east on U.S. 62/180.  After the collision the Ford pick-up driven by Yellets was struck again by a 2017 White International Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) that was traveling west on U.S. 62/180.

Yellets suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.  The driver of the other Ford pick-up and CMV sustained injuries believed to be non-life threating.  Both drivers were transported to a local hospital.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash and seatbelts do appear to have been properly used by all drivers.  The names of the drivers for the other Ford pick-up and CMV will not be released due to no charges being filed. No additional information is available.
