Four people were injured in a plane crash in Deaf Smith County late Sunday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS told our sister website, MyHighPlains.com, the crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. near the Hereford Municipal Airport. 

Authorities said two of the four passengers were airlifted from the crash site to the hospital.

The other two passengers were transported by ambulance.

The status of their injuries is unknown at this time, MyHighPlains.com reported. 

The crash site is being secured by DPS until federal aviation authorities arrive on scene to begin their investigation.
