El Paso Police said two teenage girls are responsible for the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in the Lower Valley Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Galloway, 19, and Jerrica Arredondo, 18, were charged with capital murder in connection to the shooting death of Carlos Calderon.

Police were dispatched to a shots-fired call in the 8500 block of Alameda Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found Calderon who had been shot on the stairs of an apartment complex.

Calderon was transported to Del Sol Medical Center where he died.

According to police investigators, Galloway and Arredondo were working together to set up a drug deal with Calderon. Police allege the girls intended to rob Calderon during the drug deal.

Galloway and Arredondo were arrested by police near the scene and booked into the El Paso County Detention Center where they were held Monday without bond.
