Police on Tuesday released information about the July 30 arrest of Paula Munoz, 44, for forgery of a financial instrument.  Odessa police said she cashed the checks of a dead man.

Munoz was already wanted.  Officers noticed her in the 4400 block of Conley Avenue.  Even though she gave a false name, officers were able to positively identify her.

Back on May 18, police were called about a forgery where a woman had cashed three fraudulent checks totaling $1,639.  Those checks belonged to a deceased man for whom Munos was previously the caretaker, according to a written statement from police.  That led to a warrant for the arrest of Munoz.

Police arrested her for false identification, and three counts of forgery of a financial instrument.
