A prison bus ignited and caused a grass fire in Callahan County Wednesday afternoon. 

Inmates headed to Abilene were aboard the bus that caught fire at the intersection of FM 604 and Hwy 36 in Clyde around 1:30 p.m.

Law enforcement at the scene told KTAB and KRBC officers were able to evacuate the bus safely, and no injuries have been reported. 

Investigators believe the fire started in the engine of the bus, through the exact cause has not been determined. 

The Clyde and Eula Fire Departments are fighting the grass fire, and the Callahan County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety are providing assistance.
