An employee of Abilene’s IHOP restaurant believes she was poisoned by food left in the break room.

A report filed with the Abilene Police Department states this employee told detectives she ate the food – which her work made available to employees for free – on January 31 and immediately felt sick, so she went to the emergency room, and a blood test revealed she was poisoned. The police report did not disclose the type of poison used.

This employee “does not use drugs and believes someone put that in the food she ate,” according to the report.

Police are now investigating this as an incident of Tampering with Consumer Product.

KTAB and KRBC have reached out to the IHOP location on the 3700 block of S Clack Street for comment, as well as the IHOP corporate communications team, but as of 10:30 a.m., no replies have been received.
