There is a large police presence near the intersection of Bob White Drive and Imogene Street, which is about 3.5 miles from Joseph Pappas’ home. Police issued an arrest warrant for Pappas, 62, Wednesday.
Chief Art Acevedo said in a news conference that Pappas had not been heard from in more than 24 hours and on Tuesday, he sent a text to someone stating he was going to commit suicide. When police went to Pappas’ home, he wasn’t there.
Dr. Mark Hausknecht was shot three times while riding his bicycle in the city’s medical center area. Police reported the shooter rode past him, turned around and then fired shots.
Sources told KPRC Wednesday that Houston police received a tip that Pappas’ mother was a patient of Hausknecht’s. She died during surgery more than 20 years ago.
