Dalhart Police on Friday said a 14-month-old child died from 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his lower extremities.
The investigation began on January 4 . The boy was flown to the University Medical Center burn unit in Lubbock where the child died on January 8.
An autopsy was performed at the Texas Tech Medical Examiner’s Office in Lubbock. The District Attorney’s office was notified as well as the Texas Rangers. A joint investigation between the Dalhart Police Department, Texas Rangers and 69th Judicial District Attorney’s office was on-going.
No further details into the cause of the burns or the death of the child were available.
