The following is a press release from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office:
On June 4, 2018, at approximately 3:35 PM, Curry County Sheriffs deputies were dispatched to Curry Road 6, between Curry Roads K and L, regarding a crash involving a train and a semi-truck.
The investigation has determined that a 2014 International semi-truck and trailer, owned by Ruan Transportation, and driven by Jack Brittain (41, Clovis), was traveling east on Curry Road 6. At the railroad crossing, between Curry Roads K and L, the vehicle collided with a southbound BNSF train.
The semi-truck and trailer, which was transporting milk, overturned onto the Passenger side after the collision. The driver was extricated by the Clovis Fire Department. He was flown by AeroCare from the scene to a Lubbock, Texas medical facility with serious injuries.
The BNSF train partially derailed, but remain. upright. There were no injuries report. by the BNSF staff on the train.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is on-going.
