Video was released Tuesday of a camper fire in Hobbs last week.  There were 800 or more rounds of ammunition in the fire.

“I need a unit straight south blocking off that street as well. There’s rounds going off actively,” said an officer on the scene.

Firefighters and police officers ducked for cover and then evacuated nearby homes.

Police said the owner, Marcelo Baeza, had to be physically restrained by firefighters and then arrested by police.

“What’s his problem?” an officer asked Baeza’s mother.

She tried to explain, “[It’s] because he’s angry.  He just moved out of his house and he had all of his belongings in his camper and his car and he lost a lot of stuff.”

Baeza was charged with assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.  Baeza was able to post bond to get out of jail.

No injuries were reported.
