Two teenage girls were arrested after police said they stole a man’s two month old Yorkie puppy right out of his hands.
“I just stood there and kept thinking ‘did that actually happen? Could someone just rip a dog right out of your hands, when you are just trying to let them pet it?”’ Geoffrey Sharp, the owner of the dog said.
Sharp said he turned to social media for help to find his dog Winnie and was overwhelmed by the outpour from the Lubbock community. He said several people responded telling him they saw Winnie posted for sale on a Craigslist ad.
One woman in particular, who would like to remain anonymous, reached out to the thieves pretending to be an interested buyer.
“She’s the one that messaged them and actually met up with them bravely, out of the kindness of her heart,” Sharp said.
“I was scared before I went, I had a gut feeling, they said they didn’t have pictures. I was shaking with the puppy in my hand because I knew she was the one. I told them I needed to talk to my husband and I needed to go to the bank and get money,” said the woman who saved the dog.
She said she went and called police who later arrested 17-year-old Olivia Smith, and 18-year-old Miranda Frank. Both were arrested for Class A Misdemeanor theft.
