Police are investigating an armed robbery Monday morning. It’s the latest in a string of armed robberies in Lubbock.

Monday morning’s incident involved a suspect pointing a handgun at a clerk at Seven Eleven at 5001 University Avenue. According to police, the suspect demanded cash from the register.

“The clerk complied and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash. No one was injured,” police say.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5’07” 160 lbs. wearing a blue hoodie. They say he entered the store at approximately 3:15 a.m.

We are very aware that there are some active robbers out there, says Lieutenant Ray Mendoza, of Lubbock Police. “We don’t believe that this particular robbery is related to the previous ones that we’ve had. We’re going to investigate this one as a separate one but also keep that in mind that it could be related.”

Mendoza says witnesses can play a helpful role in solving crimes like this.

“First thing we’d like for them to do is call 911,” he says. “We’d like for them to get as much information as possible from the suspect. Whether clothing, vehicle description, something like that but never ever endanger your lives for that information.”
