Children who want to travel the world through art and music or experience pioneer life in the 1800s can register for Summer Youth Classes June 6-10 at the National Ranching Heritage Center (NRHC) and the International Cultural Center (ICC) on the Texas Tech University campus.
Children who have completed any grade from the first through fifth grade can choose to attend either an entire half-day of classes or a whole day. The cost of each half-day session is $50 with the morning session extending from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the afternoon session from 1:15 to 4:30 p.m.
Class size will be limited to 15 students on a first-come, first-served basis, so parents should register their children as soon as possible. Class information, registration and a downloadable brochure are available at ranchingheritage.org/summer-youth-classes/.
Morning classes will meet at the NRHC and afternoon classes will meet at the ICC. Students who take classes both sessions will be escorted by staff to the ICC and should bring a sack lunch. Snacks will be provided for the morning and afternoon sessions.
Although the Ranch Art class is full, students who have completed either the first or second grades and want to attend the morning session can still register for Pioneer Living and Water Wranglers.
Students who have completed either the third through the fifth grades and want to attend the morning session can choose two classes, Animal Science and Ranch Wildlife, or a full morning of Western Movie Making. Afternoon classes available for all ages include two classes, Olympics and Music Around the World, or a full afternoon of Culture Through Art.
