On Monday July 18, 2016, at approximately 0800, officers from the Hobbs Police Department, along with members of New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole went to 517 E. White to locate two people who had active warrants for their arrest.
The Hobbs Police Department received information that Sammy Pinon (29) and Anthony Quiroz (28) were at this residence. Pinon had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. One warrant was for Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Battery against a Household Member and Aggravated Assault. The second warrant was for Battery against a household member and Breaking and Entering. Anthony Quiroz is an absconder from the New Mexico Probation and Parole Department.
A female was contacted at the residence who reported that two masked men had entered the home, both armed with firearms. Based on the information received, the Hobbs Police Department SWAT team was activated and responded to the scene. After numerous attempts to get the occupants of the residence to exit, Sammy Pinon exited and was taken into custody without incident. The SWAT team remained on scene and no other occupants were located inside the residence. Anthony Quiroz remains at large. Sammy Pinon was arrested on the two warrants for his arrest and was taken to the HPD jail for incarceration in lieu of $11,000 cash or surety bond.
