Two men were arrested over the weekend after Odessa Police officials say they evaded officers in a stolen vehicle and crashed.
At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday officers in the area of 31st Street and Andrews Highway tried to conduct a traffic stop on a Ford F-150.
However, police say the driver refused to stop and evaded officers at a “rapid pace” northbound on Andrews Highway before crashing into a Chevrolet Malibu and a metal pole.
The driver of the F-150 reportedly exited the vehicle and immediately began fleeing officers on foot.
He was eventually caught by police near Steak Express, according to a release.
Billy Peters, who was later identified as the driver, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest or detention and resisting arrest, search or transport, according to police.
A passenger in the truck, Ricky Carney, was also arrested and charged with resisting transport and possession of marijuana.
Police officials say the truck had been reported stolen out of Ector County.
Both men were transported to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries.
Police officials say while Peters and Carney were being discharged from MCH, they both refused to comply with officers.
A passenger in the Malibu was also transported to MCH with minor injuries, police say.
