Are you a fan of South Plains politics? Here are your talking points for this week.
The latest “storm of the century” dumped all sorts of snow and complaints on local leaders across Lubbock and the South Plains. Some complaints included the lack of snow plows, salt trucks or a plan in place for a blizzard of this magnitude. We’ll get some straight talk with Lubbock County Precinct 1 Commission Bill McCay.
After eight years of the birth certificate controversy, another Republican is complaining about a presidential candidate not being born in the United States. This time it’s not Barak Obama on the other end of that complaint.
Also this week we discuss presidential powers and executive orders. To many South Plains residents, they’re just titles from some Tom Clancy novel. They’re real and usually bring some controversy when their used. President Obama’s announcement Tuesday that he would again circumvent Congress. This time on the issue of gun control. There’s concern that this lays the groundwork for a second amendment fight for Mr. Obama’s successor.
Talking Points with Bryan Mudd airs each Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday evenings at 11:05 p.m.
