Weeks in Iowa, then on to New Hampshire and now it’s South Carolina. Does anyone know if any of the presidential candidates will go to bat for South Plains farmers? We’ll try to thresh out which of them might be willing to do something.
The filing deadline is looming. One candidate, who was all set to run for the Lubbock County Commissioners Court, sees another opening in another race for another job. Will state and local leaders let him change his mind?
Also this week, Pope Francis is on a tour of Mexico. Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson was among those invited to be a guest to hear him speak in Juarez. Robertson is busy running for Congress so Councilman Victor Hernandez and his wife will go instead. Robertson may have to end up having to answer for some of the Pontiff’s expected comments, along with the presidential candidates.
