Talking Points with Bryan Mudd (2/21/16)

Are you a fan of South Plains politics? Here are your talking points for this week.

A picture may tell a thousand words but who decided what those pictures mean? Some voters look at the picture and see a politician who may have lead then astray. Someone else may look and see a military commander being an effective leader. We’re of course discussing the controversy surrounding Michael Bob Starr, who’s running to replace Randy Neugebauer in Congress.

Pope Francis was at the Texas-Mexico border last week trying to give the faithful, and the world, a different view of the immigration crisis. Will those views be swallowed up by partisan government politics? We’ll have a first look at a year long study on the matter.

Also this week cite and release. It’s  a real statute in the State of Texas that allows police to essentially just give people a ticket for certain misdemeanors, instead of taking them to jail. Some police departments and a lot of politicians have been scared off for being labeled ‘soft on crime’ and that sentiment is nothing new.

Talking Points with Bryan Mudd airs each Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday evenings at 11:05 p.m.
