Talking Points with Bryan Mudd (3-13-16)

Are you a fan of South Plains politics? Here are your talking points for this week.

State officials said this wasn’t like past oil busts. The Texas bank accounts were full and the lack of oil and gas receipts won’t be a big deal for the budget. So why are state officials are warning departments this week to be prepare to operate “on the cheap?”

The City of Lubbock is growing again, literally. City official have told 70 odd homeowners that annexation is a good thing. Those homeowners see it a lot differently. Do Lubbock County residents have any hope when the city moves in?

Also this week we celebrated “International Women’s Day” with 807 new sexual assaults. That one estimation of how many rapes occur every day. One in four girls will be sexually abused before she turns 18. One in five women will be sexually assaulted in college. Thankfully, there are people working to stop this. In fact, Texas lawmakers too of the issue of campus assaults last week. Our Anna Wiernicki was at the hearings in Austin.
