Are you a fan of South Plains politics? Here are your Talking Points for this week.

The pressure was on the Texas delegation in Cleveland last week to lead the charge for Donald Trump. However, Senator Ted Cruz tried to steal the show at the Republican National Convention.

The Melania Trump speech got a lot of media attention last week after reports of plagiarism. The truth is Donald Trump has been knee-deep in that issue since 2012. Two week after Barack Obama was re-elected Trump filed papers with the U.S. Patent Office to reserve the phrase “Make America Great Again.”  It’s a great slogan Trump said he came up with but the issue is he didn’t come up with the phrase. Those of us of a certain age may remember a fellow named Ronald Reagan who during his campaign in 1980 rolled out a slogan “Make America Great Again.” In the end, who cares?
